Courtney Reece Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog! I'm Courtney and I'm a photographer in Louisville, KY and surrounding areas. I'm just a simple girl with a passion for photography who is finally fulfilling her dream. My entries on this blog will mainly consist of the photo shoots that I am lucky enough to be part of, but might also occasionally stray into a more personal realm because there are some great things coming up for me this year that I sometimes might feel the need to share! :)

I married my wonderful husband Johnathan on August 30, 2008 and owe so much to him for supporting me through my crazy ventures into the world of photography. He's wonderful, amazing, and my very best friend! Besides spending time with him, I watch too much TV (How I Met Your Mother, Gilmore Girls, and Friends are my favorites!) and see WAY too many movies at the movie theater. I love to hang out with my sisters, take long drives when I have the money to afford the ridiculously high gas prices, and to sing at the top of my lungs while on one of those meaningless drives. I'm overly-sensitive at times but I think my emotions will only help me capture real emotions on camera so I say "Big Deal!"

Aside from all that, I hope you enjoy what you see and leave a comment letting me know you stopped by...I love comments!

Coming Soooooooon :)

I’m soooo excited to share something with everyone, but unfortunately I won’t have it to share it until Tuesday of next week. Its something I’ve wanted for a long time and so excited that I can finally check it off my list. There are also some smaller things to share but just for effect I’ll share it all at the same time. :)

Seriously every time I think of next year I squeal a little! 2009 is going to be so AMAZING for me!

Thats all I want to say for now….I’ll let the suspense slowly kill you. ;)

My Two Rileys

Yesterday was a fun-filled Saturday. Full of time spent with both my Rileys :) First up, Riley the Original (that’s what I now call her, LOL) had her 5th birthday party and it was lots of fun! I got to hang out with her and some of her friends, and also got to spend time with Shelly, who I don’t see near enough. Shelly, if you’re reading this, that has got to change! We must hang out like Now. HAHA.

someone was trying to sneak a taste of the icing on this adorable homemade Hannah Montana guitar cake!

This little cutie (who’s name was Addison…aw!) seemed to enjoy that cake!

After the birthday party blast, I left to head over to Riley my Second, LOL to visit with her and her mommy, my good friend Merideth. And just because I had the camera, I had to take a couple shots of her. I’ll get around to posting some of those sooner or later, but there is one that Merideth and I couldn’t stop laughing at once it showed up on the back of my camera!

Tell me that doesn’t bring a big fat smile to your face?! LOL. Well, it did us anyway. :) Now, I have a few things that must get done before the weekend is over, business wise and personal. First up, placing Chris’s order, then placing Tiara’s order, and THEN Laundry. Ugh. Laundry. Anyone want do get that last one done for me????? ….No? Didn’t think so.

Special Delivery for me!!

Today I got home from work today to find this wonderful package waiting for me. I designed them myself and ordered them last week so I was stoked to see how fast I got them :)

Also checked off my business list, my business bank account! I set up my sole proprietorship and opened a separate account. I feel like my business is really picking up and its always smart to keep it separate from the personal accounts. Year 2009, I’m READY FOR YOU! :) Its going to be exciting and the start of something really amazing, I can feel it!

Happy Friday everyone! Hope your weekend is amazing! Mine will be nice and relaxing as my engagement session was postponed to Thursday. But hopefully I’ll have some fun things to blog before the end of the weekend, so keep visiting :)

Twitter was not How I Met Your Mother in this yucky weather!

Yeah ignore the blog title, I couldn’t think of anything fun and creative and even though it doesn’t make sense just at a glance its kinda funny, right? Okay maybe it will make just a little more sense after you read the rest of this post, because……….drum roll please…….. its time for another random blog post where I just spill whats on my mind! I checked the weather forecast for the weekend because I was rather apprehensive about Sunday’s engagement session. God must know how much I was looking forward to this session because the sun will be out, which is a total change from the last weather report I looked at a couple days ago. YAY FOR SUNNY WEATHER! But it seems Saturday is going to be the yuck day of the week now. Rain and even some possibly snow showers…which although its not pretty, its finally starting to feel like November! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away, that’s just KUH-RAZY!! (Yes I just spelled Crazy with a K because I’m KUH-RAZY like that)

Also, I’m not sure if I have blogged this or not but I have jumped on the Twitter band wagon. Yup, I’ll be tweeting away with the rest of the world now so check me out at www.twitter.com/courtneyreece I’m loving the idea of twittering from my phone via text message but its a matter of having something interesting to tweet. LOL Tweet. How cute is that?

Moving right along, anyone that knows me personally knows that I absolutely get addicted to TV shows like no other. I buy all the best shows on DVD and just watch them on repeat. Gilmore Girls, How I Met Your Mother, Dead Like Me, Grey’s Anatomy, and oh how I love my Friends. I’m talking about the TV show FRIENDS not you my blog friends! Although I do love all of you too! HA! :D I have the 10 seasons in the complete series pack and for the longest time it was my favorite thing on earth. LOL I could finish the entire series in 2 weeks or less during the summer when I would come home from work and find nothing more interesting to watch on TV and that would be playing morning, noon, and night. I would watch an episode while getting ready for work in the mornings, I would watch them all day Sunday while doing my laundry, and I’d watch them every night while I ate dinner! I have memorized every line from that show that people make fun of me for it, because I can just about relate any friends quote to something that happens in my day to day life. No, folks, I just don’t care. :) Because that’s just me! So, now that you know that about your dear photographer friend, its time I told you I’ve come across another show that means almost as much to me as Friends. And that show is How I Met Your Mother. Seriously, the funniest show ever to be aired on TV since Friends! Barney Stinson (played by Neil Patrick Harris..that’s right, Doogie Houser, MD!) is by far one of my favorite TV show characters of all time!!! But I read something quite disturbing yesterday. The HIMYM team (that’s How I Met Your Mother for all my acronym challenged friends ;) ) has recently informed the media that Speidi will be guest starring as themselves on the show. Speidi. Spencer Pratt and Heidi freakin’ Montag. REALLY?! The celebrities who are famous for nothing but being privileged and obnoxious will be appearing on my favorite show. :( What has the world come to? If I didn’t adore Barney, Ted, Lily, Marshall, and Robin so much I would soooooo boycott that episode. Now I know some other HIMYM fans out there might be reminded of Britney Spears’ recent double guest stunt on the show in Season 3 but no, surprisingly enough I LOVED Britney’s character on the show and actually enjoyed seeing her do something positive for a change. But ladies and gentlemen, blog readers and friends….absolutely nothing good will come of Heidi and Spencer appearing on this show. What on EARTH were they thinking???

Well, that is my rant for the day. Coming up for Courtney Reece Photography:
Nov 16- Kristi and Kenny, Engagement Session
Nov 22- Jana and Joshua, Family Session
Nov 28- (tentative) Tara and family, Holiday Session
Nov 29- Nicole and Paul’s Wedding (pre-wedding photos…the ‘getting ready’ shots - my favorite :) )

Have a lovely Thursday everyone!

Shelly and Riley, Holiday Session!

Shelly is one of my oldest friends :) I think I’ve mentioned this in a past post (maybe on the old blog) but I was at the hospital the day Riley was born almost 5 years ago. (Her 5th birthday is next week and her party is on Saturday!) It is so crazy to watch how much she has grown, and when Shelly asked me to do her Holiday photos I was like…”Um. DUH!”.

Well, of course we scheduled the session for Tuesday about a week in advance and we didn’t really know what was in store for us weather-wise. Go figure, it was so freakin’ cold and wet and dreary so we couldn’t play outside and use some of our cool outdoor ideas that we’d come up with. But Shelly’s house is already decked out in some great Christmas decorations so we made do with what we had inside! Also joining us for the pictures is Shelly’s boyfriend Steve. We all actually went to high school together, and Steve was in my class of 2000 while Shelly was one year below in the class of 2001. Well, Shelly and Steve eventually reconnected and are so cute together, and its funny because I definitely remember him as a classmate but didn’t know him at all, which is a shame because after hanging out for a little bit yesterday, he’s a really cool guy! I love these two together, and I love these pictures I got of them all. :D Here are a few of my favorites.

I noticed while I was editing these images that Steve and Shelly have almost the exact same eye color! :) WEIRD! But gorgeous. I love how Shelly’s eyes seem to twinkle in this shot.

Okay, this one screams Christmas Card. :) How adorable is she!?

I told Riley to see if there was anything in her stocking so I could try to ’set up’ this adorable shot. I didn’t even realize it might be a disappointment when she realized it was empty! I reminded her that Santa would be coming soon enough to fill it up! :D

Riley snuck a kiss while holding the mistletoe over her mommy’s head :) Definitely one of the cutest shots I got!

I love you guys, and thanks for letting me take your pictures! It was a blast, and I can’t wait for Riley’s big party on Saturday. And don’t worry, I will be bringing my camera!! :) The poor girl is going feel like Britney Spears with her own personal paparrazi in tow! HAHA

Shelly and Riley’s Holiday Session, Sneak Peak!

More to come tomorrow!

A chilly 45 degrees

My hands are like ice. Its hard to even type because its so cold in this office. I forget how much I hate the cold weather when the holiday season is upon us because I just love that warm fuzzy seasonal cheer (YAY Holidays!) but as soon as I step out of that front door and the cold slaps me in the face and I can actually see myself breathing…yeah… I am remembered how much I don’t like it. I love bundling up, I love coats and scarves and mittens but unless there is snow piled on the ground for me to childishly play in, I’m not fond of the cold. And today its cold. :(

On the upside, I get to spend the evening with Shelly and Riley taking their holiday pictures tonight so that’s something to look forward to! And Sunday I have Kristi and Kenny’s engagement session and I just can’t wait to meet them! Kristi and I have talked quite a bit in email lately and judging on those emails I just know we’re going to have a good time. Their wedding is in April and I’m so excited that they chose me as their photographer.

In other events, I’ve been on the health train with Bobbi, of the famous Bobbi and Mike and many of her blog readers…but last week was the second week in a row I lost no weight. Boooo. I’m not feeling the weight loss this week either…but I really need to get cookin’ on the exercise. I just haven’t found time to go to the gym but its obvious I’m going to need to make time. I hate paying for it and not using it! And with Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner, my pants are certainly not going to get any looser on their own! (quick self-check…is looser even a word?)

Well, I just felt the need to post a blog…sorry it will be one of my few that are pictureless….

Wait! That’s not true. I will post another of Amy and Andrew’s session. :) There, its quite a bit like a couple of the ones I’ve already posted but I didn’t want to leave the blog without a picture! I hate doing that.

Tomorrow Shelly and Riley should be gracing the blog so come back soon! :)

Amy and Andrew, continued

Its 11pm on Sunday night but I’m determined to get Amy and Andrew’s images up before bed! Andrew was probably one of the most vivacious 7 year old boys I’ve met! Amy blames it on the mountain dew she gave him before the session, LOL. But I think he just takes after his super fun mom :) They were so much fun to hang out with and I’m glad they gave me the opportunity to catch some of these moments on camera.

I LOVED the light here!

I thought this blog post deserved a portrait of the amazing mom by herself :) Isn’t Amy gorgeous?

And this was how slap happy we were by the end of a long and busy session! :P

Amy and Andrew

This afternoon I spent a little time with Amy and her 7 year old son Andrew. I’m so incredibly tired from the day but wanted to post a sneak peak. More will be up tomorrow! :)

Have a great Saturday night!

All good things

So today has been one of those happy days for me! :)
All good things happened to me today-

-Pay day from my day job (always good!)
-Penn Station had my favorite sandwich as their monthly special when I went there for lunch today!
-I got to spend time with my BFF Alexis after work today (we are currently at Barnes & Noble as I type this!)
-I just got a phone call from the hubby and he got off work 4 hours early today so I’m actually going to get to see him tonight before I crash! :)
-Last but not least, my favorite part of the day. I get to OFFICIALLY welcome Kristi and Kenny as new Wedding Clients! Stay tuned for their engagement session scheduled to take place next weekend, and then get psyched for their wedding in April 2009! YAY!

And for kicks, here’s a picture of my friend Tara who is just the coolest chick in the world.

I swear, I love that my friends don’t care that I just go snapping random pictures of them. LOL :D
